Si bien, desde Diciembre se puede capturar principalmente Percas y Truchas Arco Iris, es a fines del mes de Febrero cuando se produce el ingreso desde el Atlántico por el imponente río la peregrinación de Truchas Steellhead (Cabeza de Acero), que comienzan a subir por el curso de agua hacia el Lago Argentino para llevar adelante el desove durante su estadía que perdura hasta fines de Abril.

El río de referencia atraviesa toda la provincia de Santa Cruz de Oeste a Este, tiene un extenso recorrido de 383 Km aproximadamente. Es navegable en toda su extensión. Y es  el mas importante de la Patagonia después del Río Negro, por el caudal de agua que transporta, siendo este de 790 m3/seg, aproximadamente.

En sus primeras fases de recorrido es bravío y encajonado, sus aguas son claras y el ancho varía entre los 100 y 500 metros.

El proyecto “Steelhead Patagonia S.A. Doraike” nace con la adquisición de la estancia en diciembre de 2007.

Tras la culminación de las obras de acondicionamiento en la estancia, dio inicio con  una temporada de prueba el pasado 1ro., de diciembre de 2009, oportunidad en que se inauguraron las instalaciones en coincidencia con el aniversario de Puerto Santa cruz.

The project " Steelhead Patagonia S.A. Doraike " is born with the acquisition of the stay in December, 2007.

Este emprendimiento tiene que ver con una nueva oferta turística de la zona centro de la provincia de Santa Cruz, y la posibilidad que brinda la Estancia turística “Doraike” Hotel de campo turismo rural “Fishing Lodge”, con la finalidad de potenciar el turismo.

This emprendimiento has to see with a new tourist offer of the zone center of the province of Santa Cruz, and the possibility that offers the tourist Stay "Doraike" Field hotel rural tourism "Fishing Lodge", with the purpose of promoting the tourism.

La temporada del Hotel de Campo tendrá inicio cada año en la tercera semana del mes de Octubre hasta la primera semana de Mayo.

Mientras que en relación a la pesca deportiva, la misma tendrá lugar a fines de Febrero hasta el fin de temporada de dicha actividad cada año.

Doraike

Ubicada a 35 Km al sur de la localidad de Comandante Luis Piedra Buena y a 210 Km aproximadamente al norte de la capital. Río Gallegos, de la provincia de Santa Cruz, se ingresa en el Km 2380 de la ruta nacional Nº 3, frente al acceso al Parque Nacional Monte León.

El lugar se encuentra señalizado por un Cartel que indica el nombre de “DORAIKE” y  un mástil con las banderas Argentina y Francesa.

Doraike Located to 35 Km to the south of the Commander's locality Luis Piedra Buena and to 210 Km approximately to the north of the capital. Rio Gallegos, of the province of Santa Cruz, one deposits in the Km 2380 of the national route N º 3, opposite to the access to the National Park Monte León.

El camino de ingreso es de tierra y el casco de la estancia se encuentra a unos 4 Km aproximadamente.

Al llegar se divisa todo el establecimiento en un bajo rodeado por montañas que dan un marco paisajístico Patagónico, único a los ojos de quien por primera vez llega hasta el lugar.

Esa imagen invita a explorar cada centímetro de campo y entusiasma al visitante aún más a la salida de pesca en el río Santa Cruz.

El casco posee varios establecimientos, siendo el principal el Hotel de Campo, que cuenta con servicios de alojamiento de excelente confort, almuerzos y cenas con platos tradicionales donde los amantes de la pesca deportiva, podrán degustar dentro del menú ofrecido, truchas y corderos patagónicos entre otros platos criollos, sin dejar de mencionar el desayuno y merienda de té patagónico acompañado de diversos manjares tradicionales de la zona.
